Syngas purification
High temperature gasification (>1200 ºC) produces syngas which contains CO, CO2, H2 & H2O. Tar is not an issue, this gas is tar free. Entrained flow gasification plants have a very large scale of economy and are applied in large coal or refinery waste gasification plants. We have good experience in syngas filtration. Filtration with sintered metal filter media is a good option for tar free syngas. Sintered metal is stronger, which is important at the high pressures at which these systems operate. In the below described case the filter operated at approximately 50 bar.
Example of gasification in refinery application:
In underneath block diagram we show the gas treatment steps of the entrained flow gasification in the Italian Sannazzaro refinery. Refinery waste like vacuum residue, visbreaker tars, asphalt, petcoke etc. are gasified. The produced syngas is used as hydrogen source and for power generation.

Our modest contribution to this project was the delivery of an automatically regenerating, high pressure particulate filter placed before the PSA-unit. The filter is operated at high pressure and uses stainless steel 316L sintered metal filter media for an efficiency >99% for particles above 5 micron.
